NOT surprised. This begs the question how should leverage be applied “against” China?

Patrick French, a bit of a longstanding Dalai Lama critic [see his “Dalai Lama Lite” from 2003] says that the Dalai Lama and The West are going about things in all the wrong ways in a new op-ed piece “He May Be a God, but He’s No Politician.”

I have my doubts about some of French’s alternative approaches, but I do worry that French is right about the counter-productive approach now being employed: Are the homeland Tibetans being given signals of hope from the West, and dying as a result, when the West is really doing nothing practical or powerful to aid in the rescue of Tibetan culture?
