Bush will attend the Olympics, and is unlikely to skip the opening ceremonies, as several European heads of states have said they would do.

Chinese President Hu Jintao says Tibet is an internal issue for China and no one else.

Up to now, boycotts of the Olympics never helped the competitors or the political situation. But i’m looking forward what other countries do, maybe this time its different.

It is unknown what might have been agreed to behind the scenes. China may have agreed to act humanely in exchange for having Bush show up; AND for Bush not to object when China says that Tibet is wholly an internal issue of theirs.

Politics is theatre and we are just people in the audience being deceived and entertained. Our governments aren’t really ours, even in the best of countries.
