Some pithy Words of Wisdom from Lama Surya Das:

That which we call “I” is just impermanent, ownerless karma rolling along.

Don’t take it personally.

Reality is not all it’s cracked up to be.

*

I’m enlightened enough for now.

*

Don’t forget to medicate the ferrets.

What have ferrets got to do with it? As a visiting european to this site am I missing something profound?

Please! Do NOT give ferrets or other animals Tylenol, or aspirin, etc. It’s toxic. If they need pain medicine or an analgesic, get something specifically for ferrets (or other animal) from a veterinarian.

Sorry, readers! “Don’t forget to medicate the ferrets” is just a joke that the title of this post was also referring to. I’ll change the title to avoid more confusion.

Hmmm….Dumb joke.
Try working on something that has to do with Monkey mind.

Sadly, this is all true. I was there. The outline above is true and there is more. This kind of abusive behavior continues to this day.

I find the above message hard to believe. This “anonymous” seems to be posting in a number of places, and there is no other information to be found about this allegation. In addition, per this person’s allegation, the “blonde bombshell” remark is totally taken out of context. He’s referring to the way in which she might be viewed by the world in relation to Michael Roach, her spiritual partner. Reference the article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/15/garden/15buddhists.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=%22Lama%20Surya%20Das%22&st=cse

Other than this person’s postings (the same posting in multiple locations), I’ve heard nothing else, read nothing else, about this. No one seems to be addressing it. And when someone posts as “anonymous,” who can take him/her seriously? Anonymity allows people to take potshots at public figures too easily.

Sorry, anonymous…don’t quite buy this. I just finished Lama’s book, btw, “Letting Go Of The Person You Used to Be,” and found it tremendously helpful. If he’s an imperfect teacher, well, so be it…his teachings are very good, and I would need to know the full details of his transgressions before I cease buying his books or listening to him. This would be big news in the Buddhist community, and no one has said anything about this but you—whoever you are.

Hmm… I found this blog-post from Google when I was searching some posts of the rock band Editors… But, I guess it’s about some different kind of editors… So I keep searching, bye! :D
